Introduction 

  • It is prepared from middle layer of oyster shell (snow white and soft in color) same as the constitution of cal.Carb. 
  • This layer is covered with surrounding hard layer, same way the pt is always dependent and wants to be protected. 

Guiding symptoms + keynotes

  1. A/F : defective assimilation especially of calcium, imperfect ossification, suppression of sweat, eruption or menses. 
  2. Sourness prevalent.
  3. Disposed to grow fat. 
  4. Head sweats profusely while sleeping, wetting pillow far around. 
  5. During sickness, great longing / desire for eggs and indigestible things, while aversion to meat. 
  6. Least mental excitement causes return of menstruation. 
  7. Feels better every way when constipated. 
  8. Desire to be magnetized. 

Constitution 

  • Leucophlegmatic constitution. 
  • Physical make-up : Fair, fatty, flabby, Easily fatigue, sour smelling, tendency to grow fat, pot belly, like inverted saucer (open fontanelles in child). 
  • Mental make-up : slow, sluggish.


Mentals

  • Slow, sluggish person. 
  • Desire to be magnetized (phos., Sili.). 
  • Anxious, forgetful, confused, low spirited. 

Head

  • Headache with cold extremities. 
  • Head sweats profusely while sleeping, wetting pillow far around.  
  • Vertigo on ascending.


Eyes

  • Sensitive to light. 
  • Spots and ulcers on cornea. 
  • Closed lachrymal ducts. 
  • Lachrymal fistula. 
  • Scrofulous opthalmia.

Ear

  • Throbbing pain (bella.).
  • Deafness from working in water. 
  • Polypi which bleed easily. 
  • Muco-purulent otorrhoea. And enlarged glands. 
  • Cracking noice in ears. 

Nose

  • A/F : exposure to cold. 
  • Nostrils sore, ulcerated. 
  • Offensive smell. 
  • Yellow discharge. 

Throat 

  • A/F : exposure to cold.
  • Swelling of tonsils. 
  • Stitching pain. 
  • Difficulty in deglutition. 
  • Goitre. 

Respiratory 

  • Useful for clinical conditions like asthma, tuberculosis. 
  • Tickling cough troublesome at night, dry and free expectoration in morning. 
  • Expectoration only during day. 
  • Character : thick, yellow, sour, bloody. 
  • Worse while upstair. 

Stomach

  • Desire for eggs (rev. of calc.p.) and indigestible things. 
  • Aversion to meat. (rev. of calc.p.)
  • Milk disagrees.
  • Frequent sour eructation. 
  • Heart burn. 
  • Pain and tenderness in epigastrium. 

Stool

  • Constipation : Large, hard(bry.), Need to be removed mechanically.
  • Feels better every way when constipated. 
  • Diarrhoea : curdy diarrhoea. 

Back

  • Pain as if sprained. 
  • Pain between shoulder blades (R.tox). 
  • Rheumatism in lumber region. 
  • Curvature of dorsal vertebrae. 
  • Nape of neck stiff and rigid. 
  • Renal colic. 

Extremities 

  • Bone ailments, due to lack of calcium in them (due to defective assimilation). 
  • Pain as if sprained. 
  • Cold swelling of knees. 
  • Burning soles with profuse offensive (sour) perspiration. 
  • Arthritic nodosities.

Male

  • Frequent emissions.
  • Increased desire. 
  • Semen emitted too soon. 
  • Coition followed by weakness and irritability. 

Female

  • Menses: too early, too profuse, too long lasting. 
  • Least mental excitement causes profuse return of menses (sulp., tub.). 
  • Cutting pain in uterus during menses. 
  • Leucorrhoea : milky (sep.). 
  • Breast : tender and swollen before menses. 

Baby

  • Headings to be written same as above except male, female. 
  • Additions in them are described below. 
  • Slow development. 
  • Late learning to walk, as there is a marked weakness of bones, due to lack of assimilation of calcium. 
  • Delayed ossification of bones and fontanelles.
  • Difficult and delayed dentition. 

Modalities 

  • Aggravation : cold in general(cold air, cold water), wet weather, full moon, standing. 
  • Amelioration : dry weather, lying on painful side(bry., puls.). 

Relation

  • Belladonna plant grows in soil rich in caco3, from this we get the relation that cal. Carb. Complements the action of Belladonna very well.
