  • One of the best remedy for whooping cough / pertussis.
  • Sensation : of a feather in larynx, which excites cough. 
  • Time modality : night (nocturnal cough). 
  • Character of cough : deep, spasmodic, hoarse, barking cough. 
  • Paroxysms follow one after another very rapidly - machine gun cough. 
  • Coughing is so severe that the pt can hardly take a breath between two paroxysms.
  • Coughing terminates into retching and vomiting, because it affects pneumo-gastic nerve. 
  • Contents of vomitus : water, mucus, blood. 
  • Asthma when talking. 
  • Constriction and crawling in larynx. 
  • Constant, titillating cough in children, begins as soon as head touches pillow at night. 
  • Character of sputum : generally there is no expectoration, but if present, the sputum is yellow or greenish with or without blood. 
  • Concomitants : clergymen's sore throat, with hoarse, deep, toneless voice. 

Modalities 

  • Aggravation : mid night, lying down, singing. 

Relation

  • Antidote : camphor
