Guiding symptoms + keynotes 

  1. A/F : shock from injury, suppressed eruptions, cold air, sunstroke, vexation. 
  2. Camphor is the universal antidote to the medicines of vegetable kingdom. 
  3. Pt is extremely sensitive to cold (nux.v., hep.s.), yet cannot bear to be covered, Throws off all the coverings. 
  4. Collapsed condition with cold to touch skin, especially extremities. 
  5. Pain is better while thinking of it (hell.) (worse- cal.p., baryta.c., medo., gels.). 
  6. Scanty discharge with rapid sinking of vital force, leads to profound prostration, runs throughout the drug (ars.alb.).
  7. In advanced stage of pneumonia - ant.t., ant.c., amon.c., camphor.

Circulatory affections 

  • Camphor acts as a heart stimulant for emergency use. 
  • Angina pectoris. 
  • Pulse : small, weak, slow, scarcely perceptible. 
  • Due to weakness of circulation, distal parts of the body becomes cold to touch, especially extremities. 
  • Which ultimately leads to profound prostration. 
  • "arterial spasm" with difficult breathing (spasm of pulmonary arteries), coldness and lividity are the leading features.

Cholera

  • Indicated in collapse stage of asiatic cholera. 
  • Onset : sudden
  • Stool : rice watery or dark blackish, coffee ground, scanty stool. 
  • Cramps : cramps in stomach and rectum, also in calf muscles. 
  • Sweat : cold sweat, scanty, from all over the body, especially forehead. 
  • Skin : cold to touch, especially extremities. 
  • Tongue : cold flabby, trembling. 
  • Thirst : There is a desire to drink without thirst. There is also insatiable thirst; he is not satisfied with incredible quantities of cold water. Cannot get it cold enough, and cannot get enough, but he soon vomits it up.
  • Generality : profound weakness with rapid sinking of vital force. 
  • Associated with extremity pain as if sprained, numbness and crackling of joints. 
  • Pain better by thinking of it, warmth. 
  • Aggravation by cold air.
