• Thermal : very chilly 

Sphere of action

• It affects almost all the system of the human body. Such as CNS, PNS, CVS, Respi., GIT, genito-urinary system.

 

Constitution 

• Dark hair, dark complexion, who lives sedentary lifestyle, extremely sensitiveness to all external impressions. 

Guiding symptoms + keynotes 

1. A/F: sensitive to all external impressions such as cold wind, noise, odor etc. Is the main ailment for almost all the complains, abuse of tobacco, alcohol, quinine, over-drugging, sexual excess, sedentary lifestyle.
2. Extreme sensitiveness to cold leads to headache, frequent coryza, pt. is compelled to close the door and windows and must cover up his body. 
3. Abuse of stimulants and irregular diet causes gastric ulcers as well as severe constipation with ineffectual urging for stool.
4. Sleep : he has very peculiar sleep, Irresistible desire to sleep in the evening, awakes at 3-4 a.m. And falls into a dreamy sleep. Un-refreshing sleep.
5. Frequent ineffectual desire to pass stool and urine. 
6. Constipation : due to irregular peristalsis. 
7. Tonic and clonic spasm of limbs and muscles. 

Mind

• Suitable in all consequences upon the so-called modern civilised life and high living.
• Egotism prevails Supreme in him. 
• The pt. is sensitive, irritable, carefull and fastidious.
• Becomes angry and excited easily. 
• Wants to be alone. 

Head

• A/F : exposure to wind, gastric derangements. (two type of headache - headache due to exposure and gastric headache) 
• Sensation : as if it would burst, congestive pain.
• Aggravation in morning, by loss of sleep, noise. 
• Relieved by sitting quiet in warm closed room.

Respiratory system 

• A/F : exposure to cold wind, irregular diet. 
• Respiratory trouble of gastric origin. 
• Asthma or spasmodic cough with stitching pain in throat associated with gastric derangement. 
• Aggravation in warm room (reverse of modality of head). 
• Amelioration in cold damp weather.

Mouth

• Foetid smell with ulceration. 
• Foetid and sour taste in mouth in morning. 
• Coated tongue. 

Stomach

• A/F : irregular diet, use of abusive things (including purgatives and any other drugs) , sedentary lifestyle. (write same A/F in every GI trouble) 
• In morning - pt feels as "it will be better only if i could vomit".
• Distended abdomen with gastralgia or Gastritis. 
• Heaviness of abdomen.
• Gaseous affections. 
• Liver enlargement in drunkards - with typical other GI symptoms. 

Rectum

• There may be dysentery or diarrhea or constipation also. 
• Generally diarrhea alternates with constipation (sulph.).
• Ineffectual urging.

Dysentry

• Character of stool : scanty with blood and mucous. 
• Passage of stool gives temporary relief and again urge reappears which is ineffectual.

Constipation

• Passage of stool gives temporary relief and again urge reappears which is ineffectual.
• Heaviness of abdomen.
• Obstinate constipation. 
• Leads to blind piles.
• After stool : sensation as if something still remains in rectum. 

Diarrhea

• Passage of stool gives temporary relief and again urge reappears which is ineffectual.
• Character of stool : scanty, watery, offensive but frequent.

Urinary system 

• Painful micturition. 
• Dribbling (passes in drops).
• Hematuria.

Female

• Menses 
• nux vomica is infallible medicines for irregular menses, never at time. 
• Time : too early. 
• Duration : long lasting. 
• Quantity : profuse. 
• Character : dark, offensive. 
• Stopping and starting again.

• Labour 
• violent, spasmodic, 
• Causing sudden urge to pass urine or stool. 
• Pt prefers a warm room. 

Modalities

• Aggravation : morning at 3-4 a.m., all external impressions, dry cold air (except respi. Symptoms).
• Amelioration : evening, rest, damp wet weather.
